Welcome to the Motor Patrol web site of the Al Malaikah Shrine at Los Angeles, California!

The Al Malaikah Shrine Motor Patrol gives Parent Guest Rooms at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Los Angeles a Complete Makeover

Los Angeles, CA – November 29, 2006 – On November 11th and November 18th, 12 members of the Shrine Motor Patrol, a local Shrine Group that rides motorcycles, led by group president Tony Schnepp, of Saugus, CA, arrived at the hospital to give our parent guest rooms a complete makeover. They painted the four guest rooms and then worked on decorating the rooms. They purchased and installed two new beds, four televisions, new reading lamps, a bedside table and mirrors and artwork for the walls. These rooms are now well appointed and look very nice for the parents of our patients.

“It felt really good to contribute in this way and to come to the hospital to do the work together. Our group also included two professional painters which was very helpful!” said Gail Flannigan, a hospital staff member in the Health Information Services Department whose husband, Wally is a member. Wally and Gail who live in Venice, CA have been associated with the Shrine Motor Patrol for approximately 6 years.

The patients and families of SHC-LA come from Southern California, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona and Northern Mexico. Since our patients come from great distances, having a nice place in the hospital for the parents to stay is very important.

In addition to riding their motorcycles, The Al Malaikah Shrine Motor Patrol are involved in a number of fun activities, like raising money to purchase items that are needed at SHC-LA. Last year they raised money by having a motorcycle observation ride and raffled off a one-of-a-kind ring that was designed and donated by one of their members. Their donation went towards purchasing camping equipment and new bicycles for the patients. They also volunteered their time at the last two Temecula Wine & Music Festival events, which raises money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
